Mike and I are now on our way to the second part of our 3 part adventure. As we bid my sister a fond farewell we will be continuing to head south to New Orleans. New Orleans is probably my favorite city, not that I have that much travel to compare it to. I've visited 3 times before Katrina but this is my first visit since. It will be interesting to see how the storm changed my beloved city. I watched in horror 4 years ago and cried many tears to see her suffering the way she did.
I'm excited to stay at our favorite bed and breakfast, The Chimes, that we stayed at on our honeymoon. Here is the description of where we will likely be spending most of the two days in the honeymoon suite:
"A handsome tall 4-poster mahogany queen size bed, a day bed for napping, reading, or an extra person - both in a large bedroom with the original fireplace from 1876. The adjoining room has a large table for working space. The bathroom has a large shower with a bench seat. French doors lead to a quiet, tropical courtyard"
Hopefully the weather will corporate but if not I'm fine hanging out inside this time. When we were here 5 years ago in July the weather was gorgeous, warm but not sweltering. Last time we did a plantation tour which was amazing. I think this time we'll spend some time shopping during the day at the French Quarter which is totally different than nighttime. Mike doesn't like crazy drunk crowds so we prefer the more refined Garden District. We are also within walking distance of Market Street with incredible Antique shopping, art galleries and studios.
New Orleans is all about the food for us. There is the most amazing selection of seafood and great restaurants so that will keep us smiling I'm sure. We'll probably check out some music in the evenings and all that is The Big Easy.
