Saying Good-Bye is Hard

We saw Jess and Kate for the last time today before they head to Dallas next week. Needless to say it was difficult for me. We'll see them again for Thanksgiving if not sooner but knowing that I won't be able to run over and see them for a few hours whenever I want is very painful for me. After they left Ani said that she was sad that they are leaving but she thought it could be good for her too. Her little wheels were turning as she realized that there would be more of Aunt Paige to spoil her now and she likes that idea.

I took the above picture of Jess running on the farm last fall but I thought of it today as they were leaving. The one below is of Kate and Ani who have really bonded lately. They were both wearing little black vests today which I thought was cute. It is so interesting for me to see them develop their own styles and quirks. That is what I will miss most. It has been important for me to be a balancing influence to the girls. As I've said my sister and I have always been polar opposites. She is ultra conservative and I am ultra open-minded, hence the nickname crazy Aunt Paige. Today Jess was calling Kate weird which she does quite often. She told her that no one in the world was as weird as she was and I heard Kate say that Aunt Paige was just as weird. She said in what I took to be a proud voice that "I take after Aunt Paige." I hope she continues to confidently be as weird as she wants to be.

So sorry it is already time for them to leave! At least school is going to keep you busy...all those incoming Freshmen.

On a totally different note, do you use interchangeable circulars? Do you know of or use KA Switch, and if so, would you recommend? I want wood, so it is either Plymouth, Harmony, KA, or KnitPro. For the price, KA seems to offer the very most in terms of sizes and lengths included...??

Good bye are tough, but a growing part of all of our lives. I do feel for ya. My daughter's been here about 10 days, it's been soooooo nice. She's soon to head to St. Louis, 500 miles away. Visits are never long enough, though this one was her longest ever.

Bare with me...I'm trying to catch up on what I've missed...

I'm so sorry...but I guess the time has to come. It's very sad that they won't be as accessible as they once were, but now you know you can spend more concentrated time with them when you go to visit. That's wonderful that Kate has someone to identify with though. It's hard to be called weird and really feel weird. I'm sure she appreciates having you and I'm sure you're future visits will be much cherished.
