Happy Earth Day!

So I celebrated Earth Day a little early. I was the lucky winner of the great selection of handmade earthy goodies by a group of Artfire sellers that I got in the mail last week. I won Risky Beads giveaway with all of the cool stuff in the picture above. I particularly love the Love Your Mama tote bag by NotMoira which I will be keeping in my car for all of my toting needs. The Antique Doll Part by CobWebPalace is also really unique. I haven't decided what I'm going to do with it yet but I'm intrigued.

My earth day tip of the day is to check out 41pounds.org. Mike just did it a few weeks ago so we haven't seen the effects yet but they claim to get rid of the majority of your junk mail. From their website:

"The average adult receives 41 pounds of junk mail each year.
Our service stops 80-95% of unwanted catalogs and junk mail
for you. We’ll contact dozens of companies on your behalf to
STOP YOUR JUNK MAIL and PROTECT THE ENVIRONMENT."

If you are looking for some other tips to reduce your impact Instructables has a great post on 100 ways to reduce with many relatively painless ways to make a difference.

And Happy Earth Day to you!! I hardly get any junk mail since signing up with LifeLock a year ago...they do something..I don't know what..LOL, but it rids you of junk mail. And I don't miss it at all..

Regarding Earth Day..I am actually thinking about putting a compost bucket (now, I know that is not what it is called..bin maybe?) on the side of our house..when we get home, of course.. Anyway..so, I can break down some of our waste that would end up in our trash, ourselves.. I think it would be a good lesson, life-long lesson, for the girls.

wow i ramble.

Oh, and congrats for being the lucky winner!!

Another way to stop your junk mail (more aggressive) stuff their postage paid envelopes with the solicitation they sent you, banana peels, and any other randomness sitting around. They will get tired of paying postage for you to do this and you will get a chuckle. I've only had the courage to do it once, but it was fun:) I suppose it is a bit wasteful though....

Congrats on your win, that's a nice load of stuff there! Have fun with it!
